JOB PURPOSE To identify investment opportunities (stocks) that have the characteristics of a stock that the investments team would invest in and are likely to positively impact investment performance, analyse and monitor stocks for the wealth international investments division and motivate investment ideas to the investments team.
Essential Functions
Attend analyst and company management meetings of investments and companies that offer a read-through, monitor news flow relating to companies, network with external sell side research providers, provide ongoing feedback to investment team as per agreed format and update investment recommendations and valuation modelsbased on company announcements and/ or results. Determine the appropriate risk factors inherent in the company, industry, region, etc. to determine a target price and potential investment return, accordingly calculate and quantify risk matrix, evaluate qualitative information and determine the impact this would have on the risk premium of the investment. Ensure compliance with role specific and group-wide policies and procedures including regulatory and legislative frameworks. Evaluate the growth prospects and cash generation ability of the identified companies over the next 5 years, analyse the companies against an internal research framework for better understanding of the dynamics of the stock as well as the industry in which the companies operate, provide an opinion on quality of management, determine the value of the company and profit drivers and set buy-to price and target price. Form and clearly articulate opinions on the potential of investment opportunities to the investment team and actively participate in the debate as to the relative value opportunities (across sectors and analysts’ coverage) available for inclusion in client portfolios. Generate investment documentation for all the investment ideas, which will include the investment case, valuation and historical metrics. Present to fund managers motivating inclusion of stock to client portfolios while providing on-going guidance as to buy-sell- hold recommendations based on market movements and valuation models and comparisons to alternative investment opportunities.
Screen relevant sectors for suitable ideas, identify investments that meet the screen and warrant further investigation and conduct preliminary reviews of historic financial and fundamental data of the company. Support stakeholders, such as portfolio managers and internal distribution, through presentations, written material and attending client meetings as the subject matter expert and thought-leader of your investment coverage as well as being an ambassador of the investment offering..
