Compliance Monitoring Analyst / Senior Compliance Monitoring Analyst

Working within function, this role presents an exciting opportunity to support group-wide compliance driven activities in accordance with regulatory requirements and in-line with industry best practices and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the development of the annual Group Compliance Monitoring Programme to assess the effectiveness of group policies and procedures

• Assist with the coordination of detailed monitoring reviews in accordance with the Group Compliance Monitoring Programme, liaising with key stakeholders as appropriate

• Assist with documentation and reporting of monitoring reviews to relevant Boards

• Assist the completion of 'second line' tests of operational 'business as usual' areas, all of which are focused on ensuring core business activities are being undertaken in the appropriate way and aligned to regulatory needs

• Assist in identifying, assessing, monitoring, managing and mitigating money laundering and financing of terrorism risks

• Assist in the maintenance of a range of compliance linked logs and databases, all of which focus on ensuring excellent levels of data are being recorded and actions being taken as appropriate

• Assist in implementing and maintaining financial crime, sanctions and terrorist financing policies and procedures

• Assist with the analysis of legal and regulatory changes in the relevant jurisdiction

• Assist with a wide range of project related initiatives, all of which geared toward delivering process improved improvements

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a compliance function

• Good understanding of regulatory requirements affecting a law firm and trust company business in the Channel Islands

• Experience of refreshing and administering a Compliance Monitoring Programme in line with the changing risks and regulatory environment

• Holding or working towards a relevant compliance-related qualification

• Knowledge and understanding of various trust and company structures and AML/CDD requirements

• Ability to make decisions and use initiative within the scope of regulatory requirements, policies and procedures

• Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work effectively as part of a team

Business Controls Senior Manager, Global Operations

You will report directly to the Head of Business Controls, within the Global Operations Team.

You will work closely with the Head of Business Controls on the development and maintenance of a global framework of policies, procedures and processes for Mourant Governance Services. Our aim is to empower our teams, by ensuring they have the tools and knowledge to feel supported and confident in their roles.

About the role

• Review, update and develop policies and procedures for MourantGS in each of our operating jurisdictions. This will involve both independent research and working collaboratively with the management team in each jurisdiction, to ensure that our policies and procedures are clear, effective and fully compliant with applicable legal and regulatory requirements

• Ensure compliance with our governance processes for the approval of policies and procedures, including taking responsibility for the management of our Policies and Procedures Committees

• Support and lead projects to develop new services in reaction to client opportunities, regulatory change or service line development, in particular in relation to the development of fund services solutions

• Analyse and map new legal and regulatory requirements (working closely with MourantGS In-House Counsel), to secure our compliance culture and identify areas where new or improved policies and procedures are required

• Provide or arrange relevant training for the MourantGS team on our policies and procedures, so that the team are familiar with our controls framework and have the opportunity to ask questions

• Manage templates, checklists and processes across the business, so that these are up- to-date and as consistent and easy to use as possible; taking advantage of technology solutions (such as document automation) where appropriate

• Assist the Head of Business Controls to proactively identify and assess risks and controls; ensuring that the correct framework is in place across the MourantGS business to protect our business and enhance client service delivery

• Work with our Business Services teams (such as Risk and Compliance and HR) in connection with their policies and procedures, to ensure a joined up approach to legal and regulatory compliance

• Receive, review and implement feedback requests from team members in each jurisdiction, recognising that this feedback is vital for our policies and procedures to remain user-friendly and effective

• Identify and implement workflow and process improvements across the business to drive efficiency, alongside the rest of the Global Operations Team

• Keep abreast of relevant legal and regulatory changes and industry standards, to drive continuous improvement.

About you - essential requirements

• You should be educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably with a legal qualification but a relevant governance, compliance or accounting qualification would also be considered.Ideally you should have at least 5 years' experience in a relevant role at a regulated business or have a legal background with experience of advising corporate services businesses

• In addition to excellent written and verbal skills, and technical knowledge of best practice when it comes to drafting policies and procedures, we're looking for someone who has a genuine desire to help and support people

• You should be able to demonstrate a focus on client service and high ethical standards, as we'll be relying on you to help keep our business and teams operating in a safe and compliant way. This role also involves significant attention to detail and highly developed analytical skills

• You should be comfortable working as part of a team, as well as independently – taking charge of your own workload and proactively suggesting areas you'd like to get involved with

• An interest in technology (such as enthusiasm for using new systems) is also advantageous.
