ROLE OVERVIEW

• Oversee and manage the merchandising activities in a food retail setting.

• Ensure the products are displayed and marketed in an appealing and organized manner to attract customers and maximize sales.

Overall, the Food Retail Merchandising Supervisor plays a critical role in creating an attractive and customer- friendly shopping environment. By effectively managing visual merchandising, product placement, inventory, pricing, and team management, they contribute to enhancing the overall shopping experience, driving sales, and achieving business goals.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Visual Merchandising: Developing and implementing effective visual merchandising strategies to create visually appealing displays that showcase products attractively. This includes designing and arranging product displays, signage, and promotional materials to enhance the overall shopping experience and drive sales.

• Product Placement and Layout: Planning and determining the placement and layout of products within the store. This involves considering factors such as product categories, customer flow, and promotional strategies to optimize visibility and facilitate easy navigation for customers. Ensuring that products are properly stocked, labelled, and priced.

• Inventory Management: Collaborating with the inventory management team to ensure accurate stock levels and availability of products. Monitoring inventory turnover and implementing strategies to minimize stockouts and overstock situations. Conducting regular audits and stock checks to maintain accurate inventory records.

• Pricing and Promotions: Collaborating with the pricing team to establish competitive and profitable pricing strategies for products. Planning and executing promotional activities and sales events to drive customer traffic and increase sales. Analysing pricing trends and competitor activities to make informed pricing decisions.

• Team Management: Supervising and leading a team of merchandisers and ensuring they are properly trained and motivated. Assigning tasks, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations. Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and visual merchandising standards.

• Market Research and Analysis: Conducting market research to stay updated on industry trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities. Analysing sales data and customer feedback to identify opportunities for improvement and growth. Making recommendations for product assortment, placement, and promotional strategies based on market insights.

• Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Collaborating with other departments, such as marketing, operations, and purchasing, to ensure alignment and coordination in merchandising activities. Communicating with store management and staff to gather feedback and insights on customer preferences and product performance.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Good general education;

• Current First Aid at Work Certificate (Preferred);

• Current Food Hygiene Certificate (Preferred);

• Effective time-management skills;

• Excellent coaching and development skills;

• Strong interpersonal skills;

• Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations;

• Ability to receive feedback and act on it, when necessary;

• Ability and willingness to acquire job-related skills and knowledge through self-development and by learning from others;

• Sensitivity and understanding;

• Good attention to detail;

• Background in Visual Merchandising (preferred);

• Minimum 2 years retail role experience (preferred).
