Legal Assistant Private Client
We are seeking a Legal Assistant to join our Private Client department. This role is ideal for a professional who has previous experience in a similar role and will undertake fee-earning work and will manage client work allocated by a Partner or senior-fee earners.
For the right candidate (after successful training) the opportunity to progress within the firm we will offer support and funding to qualify as an English Solicitor.
Key responsibilities

Qualifications and experience

• Hold a degree (ideally a law degree) but not essential.

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Project Manager to join our law firm on a 1- year fixed term contract. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives on structure, efficiency, and collaboration.

Transactions Manager (Jersey) We are seeking an experienced individual with at least +5 years’ experience in a professional services environment (fund management / administration / legal) to assist with transaction management for the funds of a key client of LH. The primary focus of the role is liaising both internally across teams at the client (Finance /Commercial/Legal) and also externally with lawyers to ensure that all transaction closing steps are satisfied, and all take place at the right time. The role is best suited to someone who is experienced at transaction management, has confidence to liaise with senior partners at the client and is excellent at multi-tasking. The role will sit within one of the fund administration teams in LH’s growing private equity team. The role will be based in Jersey but there may be the opportunity for occasional travel to the client’s office in London.
Key Responsibilities
• Preparation and oversight of closing and exit checklists.
• Assisting with closing mechanics and ensuring all steps/document are signed off internally.
• Drafting and reviewing ancillary corporate documents such as minutes, powers of attorney, managers certificates etc.
• Liaising with corporate service providers on incorporations and ongoing registry/ statutory filings
• Working with legal counsel, commercial team, finance and legal team to satisfy checklist items.
• Assist with on-going ad hoc work on existing investments.
• Complete KYC exercises including (i) third parties carrying out KYC on the client and (ii) the client carrying out KYC on counterparties.
• Organise and minute fund investment committee meetings and fund general partner meetings.
• Review and circulate investment committee memoranda to the relevant investment committee and general partner on proposed transactions.
• Liaise with lawyers to satisfy CPs on financings and refinancings.
• Ensure that bibles and internal schedules are maintained.
As part of your duties all employees must ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures and meeting all personal AML obligations.

We are looking to recruit an ambitious and personable associate specialising in pensions into our prestigious Trust and Private Wealth team.
This role will be to support our pensions practice in our Guernsey and Jersey offices. The successful individual can be based in either Guernsey or Jersey and will be required to travel between the Islands.
Duties include:
• Assisting with drafting and amending pension schemes
• Advising pension providers, trustees and employers on a range of pension issues

• Providing specialist pension support as part of Corporate Due Diligence exercises

JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Legal Assistant in the Litigation and Family Law Department Reports To: Head of Litigation and Family Law and the Partners generally
Place of work: The offices of Le Gallais & Luce (presently 6 Hill Street) but may
be asked to work from other locations from time to time as the Partners or the type of work dictate.
Purpose of the Position: To provide efficient legal and administrative support in the
management of Litigation and Dispute Resolution files.
Specific Responsibilities: Including but not limited to providing the following services to the Litigation team:
• Assisting the advocates in managing their caseload of files within the Litigation and
Family team.
• To keep an up-to-date list of all client matters.
• Attending client meetings and take instructions and/or provide some basic advice/guidance.
• Drafting basic letters and emails to clients and other professionals.
• To be able to prepare and maintain pleadings files.
• Receiving and dealing with incoming telephone calls and emails in a professional manner.
• To keep up to date with any changes in the law in connection with civil and family law issues and to maintain subject knowledge by attending training events and seminars as required from time to time. To have a good understanding of dispute resolution and family procedures.
• Liaise with Court, lawyers and other professionals.
• Assist with drafting pleadings and the associated documentation.
• To ensure that the necessary deadlines are met, and documentation prepared/filed.
• Assist with drafting Skeleton Arguments.
• To prepare Court and other bundles.
• Attend date fixes.
• Managing appointments for the team.
• To undertake legal research (both Jersey and UK laws and authorities) and to keep up to date with research techniques and the use of lexis and other legal research databases.
Marketing and Business Development
• To develop and market the Litigation team, specifically dispute resolution, and the firm generally in both business and social situations by attending marketing events, liaising with intermediaries, and contributing to the content of the website and social media. This to further the interests of the Firm and/or develop your own professional profile.
Compliance, cyber-crime and risk
• Attending firm wide training sessions to ensure conformity with legislation in connection with anti-money laundering, cyber-crime and reviewing ad hoc updates which may be provided by the MLCO/MLRO.
• To be vigilant when dealing with client matters to ensure conformity with internal risk procedures, client take on procedures, anti-money laundering legislation and the Law Society Code of Conduct.
• Reporting any suspicions to the MLRO/DMLRO.
General responsibilities
• To ensure at all times that work is carried out to a high level of skill and accuracy.
• To ensure at all times that a high level of client care and service is provided.
